Position: Mechanical Engineer/Technician (full time, permanent)
Starting date: Open until the position is filled.
Plasmionique is a Canadian company spun out of a university research group and incorporated in 1999. The company is an R&D driven company focused on proliferation of plasma-based technologies for variety of advanced surface engineering applications and nanostructured material synthesis and thin film coatings. The company is specialized in custom designed systems for R&D and manufacturing and over the two decades has developed and commercialized numerous advanced systems, mainly for R&D applications and some for industrial use.
We are currently looking for a mechanical engineering technician that can assist in preparing 3D designs and manufacturing drawings of components and modify existing drawings. An ideal candidate is a motivated and detailed oriented individual with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, is familiar with relevant industry standards, and has some experience in 3D design and SolidWorks.
PLEASE NOTE: We are unable to sponsor candidates, so currently residing and being able to legally work in Canada is a prerequisite for this position.
Responsibilities:

Preparing 3D designs and assemblies for parts with moderate complexity based on the requirements provided by the design teams;

Modifying existing 3D drawings and assemblies based on the provided engineering guidelines;

Produce routine 2D drawings and assemblies for manufacturing teams;
-
Creating Bills of Materials based on drawings and assemblies;
-
Maintain an on-site parts database in accordance with the manufacturing guidelines.
Experience/ Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering;
-
Proficient with SolidWorks;
-
Design experience in the high-tech manufacturing industry is considered an asset;

Machining experience and knowledge is considered an asset.

Position: Electromechanical Assembler (full time, permanent)

We are looking for a technical assembler to join our team. The assembler will work closely with the design team to assemble the system and assist in quality control and testing of the products. Our products usually include several sub-systems, including but not limited to support structure, vacuum chamber, gas distribution system, measurement instruments, or electrical system. The ideal candidate is willing to be involved in the assembly and testing of all of these subsystems. This job has no experience requirement, only willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic high-tech research and development company.
Responsibilities:

Take inventory of components prior to assembly;

Perform all assembly tasks, preparation of parts, equipment, and products according to the provided technical data (drawings, production, quality, instruction sheets, lines, installation instructions, etc.);

Ensure the right products and tools for the assembly, according to technical and safety instructions;
-
Inspect and verify installed units, parts and equipment for fit, performance and compliance with standards, using measuring and testing instruments;
-
Verify work compliance against generic and specific standards defined in technical work documentation and report any irregularities;
-
Report on work performed.
Requirements:

Some basic computer literacy is necessary for this position. This includes Office suite, working with pdf files, and being able to quickly find relevant information on the internet.
Salary: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Position: Machinist (full time, permanent)
Starting date: until the position is filled.

We are looking for a skilled Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate has experience operating lathes and mills in a medium-sized manufacturing environment and has excellent technical knowledge of milling, turning and grinding processes. The Machinist will be working with our Engineering and Design staff to plan and implement new machining practices. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, experienced professional to join our growing company and make a direct impact on improving quality and efficiency across the organization.
Responsibilities:

Generate and process work orders;

Examine blueprints and specifications to determine machine requirements;

Use a variety of machine tools, such as lathes and milling machines, to shape and sharpen metal parts;

Operate precision measuring instruments;
-
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, circuit diagrams, and schematics;
-
Manage projects involving multiple machinists and other personnel;
-
Monitor production operations and resolve production problems;
-
Carry out instructions from senior machinists;
-
Plan daily production goals.
Requirements:

DEP in machining techniques (required) with 3-5 years of machining experience in a manufacturing environment (asset);

Candidates with relevant experience without degree will be considered;
-
Basic knowledge of welding techniques, specifically TIG welding is considered an asset.
